Hearing God’s Voice

Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy.

Hearing God’s Voice

But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.

(Note from Pastor Peter Haas: “Unfortunately, there are a lot of pathetic prophets who revel in oppressing people and manipulating people with their words. Yet, Paul gives us a life-giving filter through which we can scrutinize these so-called impressions.”)

The spirits of prophets are subject to the control of prophets. For God is not a God of disorder but of peace.

Do not quench the Spirit. Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil.

But solid food [God’s Word] is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.
