2. Hate what is bad

Hate what is bad, and love what is good, Let justice prevail in the city gate. It may be that Jehovah the God of armies.

firstborn of all creation

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation;

clothe yourself with love

But besides all these things, clothe yourselves with love, for it is a perfect bond of union.

dead know nothing

For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing at all,nor do they have any more reward, because all memory of them is forgotten.

works of flesh

Now the works of the flesh are plainly seen, and they are sexual immorality,at uncleanness, brazen conduct, 20 idolatry, spiritism, hostility, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, dissensions, divisions, sects, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and things like these. I am forewarning you about these things, the same way I already warned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit God’s Kingdom.

a wicked heart lacking faith by drawing away from the living God

12. Beware, brothers, for fear there should ever develop in any one of you a wicked heart lacking faith by drawing away from the living God 13 but keep on encouraging one another each day, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you should become hardened by the deceptive power of sin.

Your dead will live.

who say that good is bad and bad is good

Woe to those who say that good is bad and bad is good, Those who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness, Those who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

keep asking in faith not

15 For I set the pattern for you, that just as I did to you, you should also do.

love one another

I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, you also love one another.

truth will set you free

and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

deliverance is getting near

Also, there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and on the earth anguish of nations not knowing the way out because of the roaring of the sea and its agitation. 26 People will become faint out of fear and expectation of the things coming upon the inhabited earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 And then they will see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 But as these things start to occur, stand up straight and lift up your heads, because your deliverance is getting near.”

pay attention to yourselves

34 “But pay attention to yourselves that
your hearts never become weighed down with overeating and heavy drinking and anxieties of life, and suddenly that day be instantly upon you 35 as a snare. For it will come upon all those dwelling on the face of the whole earth. 36 Keep awake, then, all the time making supplication that you may succeed in escaping all these things that must occur and in standing before the Son of man.”

A good man brings good out of the good treasure of his heart, but a wicked man brings what is wicked out of his wicked treasure; for out of the heart’s abundance his mouth speaks.

2. For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to accurate knowledge. 3 For because of not knowing the righteousness of God but seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the Law, so that everyone exercising faith may have righteousness.

Therefore, God, in keeping with the desires of their hearts, gave them up to uncleanness, so that their bodies might be dishonored among them. 25 They exchanged the truth of God for the lie and venerated and rendered sacred service to the creation rather than the Creator

awake from sleep...let's us walk decently

11 And do this because you know the season, that it is already the hour for you to awake from sleep, for now our salvation is nearer than at the time when we became believers. 12 The night is well along; the day has drawn near. Let us therefore throw off the works belonging to darkness and let us put on the weapons of the light. 13 Let us walk decently as in the daytime, not in wild parties and drunkenness, not in immoral intercourse and brazen conduct, not in strife and jealousy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not be planning ahead for the desires of the flesh.

For all the things that were written beforehand were written for our instruction, so that through our endurance and through the comfort from the Scriptures we might have hope.

For the one who has died has been acquitted from his sin.
